Copilot just stopped being a chat box.

Microsoft has announced the new Copilot, and it is built around three things:

🏠 Home – Chat for quick questions, Cowork for bigger jobs it runs end to end, like an RFP response or a customer briefing. It works with real, editable Word, Excel and PowerPoint files.

💻 Code – describe a dashboard, automation or small internal app in plain English and it builds it. Sandboxed, and can be hosted within your own tenant.

🤖 Autopilot – a digital teammate you give a name, a role and a goal. It follows up on threads and picks projects back up days later, even when you are offline.

The shift is from asking Copilot things to handing it work.

That is exciting, but agents that act on their own need the right permissions, clean data and cost controls behind them. Home and Code are rolling out through Microsoft’s Frontier programme first, with usage-based billing for the heavier features.
